Help improve health outcomes for veterans
The Million Veterans Program (MVP) is a historical effort: the world’s largest health research program linked to the health system and the first program of its kind to have a million participants. MVP participants are an important part of this history.
Let’s make history together
You can make a difference today by becoming a part of MVP. To join, we’ll ask you to:
- Give a blood sample for genetic testing.
- Take surveys to share information about your health, lifestyle and experiences.
- Provide secure access to your health records so researchers can use relevant information for their studies. We will not share your name or any personally identifiable information.
- You agree to be contacted in the future regarding the research program.
You can join online using MVP website or personally ua Participating VA locationand you don’t have to get your care at the VA to participate.
MVP surveys help researchers learn more about veterans’ health
After you join, you will be asked to complete surveys.
You can complete surveys online through your personalized MVP Dashboard, in person at participating VA locations, or by mail. If you prefer paper surveys, please call 866-441-6075 after you enroll and we will mail them to you with return postage prepaid.
- Baseline Survey: This is the first survey MVPs filled out. It asks important basic questions about your health, military experiences and family history, helping researchers link genetic information to health outcomes.
- Lifestyle survey: This survey asks questions about your daily activities, general well-being and dietary habits. Your answers help researchers discover how exercise and activity patterns affect veterans’ health outcomes, how military experiences affect long-term well-being, what dietary habits can protect against chronic disease, and more.
- Research on military experiences and toxic exposures: Research on military experiences and toxic exposures asks questions about your military experiences, including where you were stationed and deployed, duties you performed, and exposure to toxic substances you encountered during your service.
More than 642,000 veterans completed the baseline survey. Join them and the 524,000 who completed the Lifestyle Survey and the 223,000 who completed the Military Experience and Toxic Exposure Survey, by applying today.
