Honoring Jeanette Eno: A legacy of service and resilience
Paying tribute to a century of service, resilience and supreme influence
As part of the Day of Recognition for Fighters in West Palm Beach VA Healthcare SystemWe honor Jeanette Eno, an extraordinary Marine veteran whose life of service, strength and resilience continues to inspire others.
Eno, 102, began her military career in the Coast Guard before transferring to the Marines. During her service, she served in support officer roles, providing essential administrative services that contributed to mission readiness and operational success. She completed her training in West Palm Beach, Florida and served in Key West.
A lifetime commitment from the Coast Guard to the Marines
Eno will celebrate her 103rd birthday on August 9 and is believed to be the oldest living female Marine veteran.
To recognize her service and contribution, West Palm Beach VA Healthcare System Executive management and staff visited Eno at the Community Living Center and presented her with a special gift basket. The visit provided an opportunity to express gratitude on behalf of the VA and veterans community for her years of service and sacrifice.
Eno warmly greeted the group and expressed her gratitude for the visit. She was especially delighted to discover chocolates, one of her favorite treats, in her gift basket. Her joy and enthusiasm left a lasting impression on everyone present.
During the visit, fellow veterans had the opportunity to personally thank Eno for her service. A veteran approached her to shake her hand and express his gratitude.
In a short acceptance speech, not only Eno’s military contribution was highlighted, but also the path she helped to unearth future generations of women who will respond to the call to service.
Eno’s story reminds us to recognize and preserve the history of women veterans, and those whose contributions are too often untold.
The West Palm Beach VA Healthcare System is honored to celebrate Eno and her extraordinary legacy.
Thank you for your service.
Thank you for your sacrifice.
Thank you for the example.
